Video: Impact of #MeToo on Businesses

Video Transcript:

The #MeToo movement: it’s been around now since October of 2017. What does it mean to employers? Well, it means a lot. To be honest, the sexual harassment laws have been in place as far back as the 1960s, with Title VII, it’s been best practice for many years to conduct sexual harassment prevention training, but since October 2017 and the #MeToo movement it’s now come to the forefront of society. Laws are constantly changing. New York State, and New York City, have new laws in place that are going to require Sexual harassment prevention training for your employees. Focus on it, make sure you do it, it’s the first step in minimizing your exposure for sexual harassment in the workplace.

In our recent HRMinute, employment law attorney Andrew Singer discusses the impact of the #MeToo movement on businesses. (July 2018)
