High Court Asked to Weigh in on Automatic Subscription Renewals

In Ovitz vs. Bloomberg L.P. , the New York Court of Appeals heard argument on February 8, 2012 on whether the plaintiff Bruce Ovitz, who resides in Illinois, had a remedy under New York's Deceptive Practices Act and the General Obligations Law, requiring Bloomberg to give written notice to its subscribers, before it could enforce the automatic renewal provisions of its contracts. Vincent J. Syracuse pointed out that the Bloomberg is New York-based and that the Plaintiff should have the right to commence a class action in New York. For the full article, click here.
