In Ovitz vs. Bloomberg L.P. , the New York Court of Appeals heard argument on February 8, 2012 on whether the plaintiff Bruce Ovitz, who resides in Illinois, had a remedy under New York's Deceptive Practices Act and the General Obligations Law, requiring Bloomberg to give written notice to its subscribers, before it could enforce the automatic renewal provisions of its contracts.
