David Abramovitz

Bio

David Abramovitz is a counsel in Tannenbaum Helpern's Real Estate, Construction and Environmental Law Practice. David brings more than 20 years of experience counseling owners, developers, design professionals and contractors in construction risk management, litigation and contract negotiations for intricate construction projects, and has represented some of the most prestigious and forward-thinking firms in the industry before trial and appellate courts and in mediation and arbitration tribunals throughout the United States. David also advises clients on real estate related matters such as operating and partnership agreements, purchase and sale agreements, financing and commercial leases, and counsels condominium and cooperative boards. He has written and lectured frequently before industry groups and in continuing legal education courses on issues relevant to the development, design and construction industries. David is a graduate of Yale University and the Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to joining Tannenbaum Helpern, David was with Zetlin & De Chiara LLP.

  • Successfully defending a construction project developer against efforts by project subcontractor to treat proceeds of acquisition loans as trust funds under New York Lien Law.
  • Securing dismissal of claims against multiple design professionals in litigation arising from collapse of office tower as a result of terrorist attacks.
  • Successfully securing summary judgment exonerating architect of any responsibility with respect to multi-million dollar claims by board of luxury condominium
  • Defending architect in complex, multi-year litigation involving claims of negligent design and resulting delays in connection with design of an educational institution.
  • Successfully defending designer of iconic residential tower against claim that design was misappropriated
  • Securing dismissal of claims against structural engineer in multi-party litigation involving claims of defective design of residential condominium.
