Practice Description:
Scott E. Furman is co-chairman of the firm's Real Estate and Environmental Law Departments. Since 1985, Scott has advised a broad range of clients with respect to complex corporate and real estate transactions, real estate development and management of environmental conditions at facilities both in the United States and abroad. Scott's broad technical knowledge of environmental issues and solutions has proven essential in navigating environmental matters for his clients and successfully negotiating with purchasers, sellers, lenders, insurers and environmental agencies in various jurisdictions throughout the country and abroad. Having worked on transactions ranging from several thousand dollars to several billion dollars, he has a demonstrated sensitivity not only to the timing aspects of every transaction, but also the relationships between cost and benefit in analyzing and developing solutions.

Significant Matters:
Completion of complex Brownfield remediation and re-development projects in California, Minnesota, New York and Illinois. Coordination of significant Brownfield matters in Massachusetts and Texas. Management of environmental aspects of multi-billion dollar acquisitions among publicly traded companies. Among his many accomplishments, Scott earned for the firm the Grand Award for Innovative Remediation Design to Facilitate Brownfield Redevelopment in 2001 by the Consulting Engineers Council of Minnesota and was a presented with an award as a National Finalist in 2001 for the Engineering Excellence Awards Competition sponsored by the American Consulting Engineers Council.
